Storm

A windstorm came last Thursday as I slept. When I woke on Friday morning there was no power. I spent the next three days keeping a fire going in the fireplace and heating canned soup in a fondue pot.
For most of human history we have not had central heating and lightbulbs. We had fire. Fire can be destructive if not controlled. Fire burns. The burn provides heat. The heat can be channeled to cook, to cause a chemical reaction.
Witchcraft is about the nature all around us. Of course I live in a huge home with a radiator. Without the power on I lived in the living room and slept on the floor near the fire.
We live in this world and we interact with it. We change our environment. We cause change.
As I stared into the flames I was in touch with the fire as a source of heat, light and security. The weather dropped to 29 degrees outside but I had a fire.
Earth, Air, Fire Water, Spirit are the elements of life. Each have destructive and creative powers. Life is Magic.
